Custom Typing Mode
Custom mode lets you practice with your own paragraphs, study notes, articles, or exam content. Perfect for focused preparation and content-specific typing practice. Unlike standard typing tests with predetermined passages, custom mode empowers you to practice exactly what matters most to your personal or professional goals.
Research in learning science demonstrates that practicing with relevant, personally meaningful content significantly accelerates skill acquisition. When you practice typing with your own material—whether exam passages, work documents, or study notes—your brain forms stronger neural connections because the practice is contextually meaningful. This targeted approach produces faster improvements in both speed and accuracy compared to generic typing exercises.
Anu Typing Test's custom mode removes barriers between study and typing practice. No longer do you need to choose between learning content and building typing skills. Now you can do both simultaneously by practicing typing with your actual learning material.

Step 3 - Choose Duration: Select from preset durations (1, 2, 5, 10 minutes) or enter a custom duration. Consider your content length and goals when selecting duration.
Step 4 - Click Load Test: The interface loads your custom text, displays it in the typing area, and prepares metrics tracking.
Step 5 - Start Typing: Focus on the text and begin typing when ready. The timer automatically starts on your first keystroke.
Step 6 - Review Results: After test completion or timer expiration, review your detailed metrics. Save scores for historical tracking and download certificates to document achievements.
Appropriate Length: For 1-minute tests, paste 75-100 words. For 5-minute tests, paste 300-500 words. For 10-minute tests, paste 600-1500 words. Matching text length to duration prevents unrealistic speed requirements.
Diverse Content Types: Vary your practice between different content types. One session with technical content, another with literary passages, another with professional correspondence. Diversity prevents boredom and builds adaptable typing skills.
Challenging Material: Periodically practice with intentionally challenging content—dense paragraphs with complex vocabulary, heavy punctuation, or unusual character combinations. This builds resilience and capability for difficult real-world scenarios.
Familiar Material: Balance challenging content with familiar material to maintain motivation. Successfully completing tests with familiar content builds confidence and maintains practice momentum.
Progressive Difficulty: Start with simpler custom content, gradually introducing more complex material as your skills improve. This progression prevents frustration while ensuring continuous improvement.
Motivation Through Relevance: Practicing with material that matters to you personally or professionally maintains intrinsic motivation. You're not just building typing speed—you're preparing for real goals.
Contextual Learning: Your brain learns faster when practice has context and meaning. Custom mode connects typing skill development to your actual learning or work objectives.
Vocabulary Building: Typing specialized content reinforces domain-specific vocabulary. Medical professionals memorize medical terms while improving typing speed. Legal professionals internalize legal language through practice.
Reduced Cognitive Load: With generic typing tests, you must simultaneously process unfamiliar content and practice typing. Custom mode lets you focus primarily on typing mechanics because you're familiar with the content.
Error Analysis: Tracking where you make mistakes on custom content identifies specific terminology or character combinations that slow you down, enabling targeted improvement.
Practicing with your own material improves memory retention and makes typing practice directly relevant to your goals. You're simultaneously studying content and building typing speed—a powerful efficiency multiplier for students and professionals alike.
